April 30th 2008 Privy Dig
Back to Baltimore today with just me and Doug. We decided to dig a small Barrel Lined Pit we probed behind a circa 1865 house in north east Baltimore. The pit probed ashy and easy to dig. We met at our usual spot about 10:00 and quickly drove over to the spot we wanted to dig. A quick reprobing to verify that it was a pit and we started shoveling dirt. About a foot in we hit ash and the remains of a sunken brick pattio. after getting through this we got the pit defined to its sided revealing the complete barrel edge and started digging the pit down. at about 5 feet we hit a thin layer of turn of the century glass and then bottom. This pit really sucked and produced nothing worth having.
