Saturday May 24th 2008 Privy Dig

Back in Baltimore again today. Alan lined up a permission in a very well maintained yard in south Baltimore. I quickly probed out a brickliner. We removed the sod and started opening it up. This one turned out to be a typical small oval brickliner and went about 10 feet deep. Sadly this one had been heavily dipped and only had about a foot of 1840s layer on the bottom. We only got one small pontiled puff and a a couple buckets of ceramic shards. We gave the puff to the home owners and then filled in the pit and replaced the sod. You can't win them all and the past couple pits certainly proved that. This one had great potential.
